Packers Select Smith, Miffed Brockington Demands Trade ??

Jan. 29, 1974 – The Packers select Barty Smith, a fullback out of Richmond, and the choice doesn’t sit well with incumbent John Brockington. “They (the Packers) will have to trade me because they’ve got the kid (Smith) as a fullback, too,” Brockington says. Neither Brockington nor Smith is traded and both remain Packers until Brockington is released early in the 1977 season.
